There are currently 24 operational satellites in the constellation of GPS satellites orbiting the earth with a radius of the orbit of 16 thousand miles (from the center of the earth). The satellite orbits are distributed in 6 orbital planes (the orbital plane is the plane surface formed by the path traced by the orbit of satellites – it is almost circular). The six orbital planes are separated by an angle of 60 degrees.
